5 Simple Ways To Go Green At Work This World Environment Day

#KredXMondayMotivation

Amidst all the hustle and bustle, it is very common for environmental responsibility to take a back seat when running a business. But what we don’t realise is that by going green, not only do you actually do good for the environment and boost the company morale, but customers too are more likely to gravitate towards responsible companies. And what better way to honour this than by going green at work this World Environment Day! Here are some tips to help your business go green and contribute to the environment.

How to go green at work

Go Paperless

In this digital age, it is common for businesses whether big or small to opt for technology to keep track of all important paperwork. Not only is this easier to keep an eye on all the documents, but is also beneficial for the environment. As and when possible, use cloud computing to upload your documents or if you must print out documents, consider printing on both sides of the paper, using less bold fonts and ensuring that all paper waste goes to the recycle bin and not a dump site.

Use electricity wisely

Turn off all power outlets, computers, printers, etc when not in use. Take advantage of natural lighting as much as possible, leave the windows open instead of switching on the air conditioner and bring in a few potted plants instead of wasteful office decor. If your office pantry uses an electric kettle, communicate to your employees that boil only the required amount of water and not fill up the entire kettle as it is much less energy efficient. Not only does this help the environment, but it is also much easier on the eyes!

Make recycling a policy

We’re not just talking about paper waste, but also old computers and hardware that should ideally be recycled. Introduce a policy at your workplace so that everybody is a part of this and is responsible for their bit towards the environment.

Encourage teleconferencing and remote working

Sure, this is great for the employees but how does this help the environment or the business? You reduce your carbon footprint of course! By opting for teleconferences rather than traveling to a client site always, you improve the overall efficiency, cut down your carbon footprint and expenses manyfold. The same goes with remote working. This shows that you trust your employees while also easing your company expenses and your impact on the environment.

Introduce Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) drives

Begin a quarterly CSR activity where your employees collectively plant trees, clean up the city or any other environmentally friendly activity. While it boosts employee morale and helps the environment, it also builds team spirit. And what’s more? This makes for a great PR campaign too!

By taking these steps, you can make a great start on your journey towards a greener future. We at KredX have already begun doing our bit for the environment by going completely digital and implementing the above-mentioned tips. Have you? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

Let us make a promise today to celebrate and honour nature every day!
